Maegan Dougherty Photography » NJ Birth and Family Photographer

These three are beautiful individually, and together they form the sweetest and cutest little family.  They will welcome a new baby in September, and I was so happy to capture this special time in their lives, in their backyard on a hot summer morning.

I love these pictures so much because I am pretty sure that if I had shown up for a visit without my camera, what I would have seen would be very much like what you see here.

The mama here, Kelly, has such a genuine smile that I think it’s impossible to talk to her and not also be smiling.  She’s a birth and postpartum doula, infant massage educator, and prenatal and postpartum yoga teacher.  So cool, right?

She’s currently teaching prenatal yoga at Shiva Shanti in Rutherford and infant massage at Mimi Kids in Hoboken, and is the organizer of a Nursing and Nurturing meet-up group.

Lindas as Fotos….
E o texto falando sobre a mama Kelly é realmente real.. Sorriso lindo…

Here is another beautiful, sweet family at Van Vleck House and Gardens in Montclair.

I rarely ask kids to look at the camera, so it’s interesting to see how they naturally (or from habit and experience) start to do that as they get a little bit older.  These two are 8 and 6.  In their faces I see innocence and a little bit of self-consciousness or at least self-awareness, and I also see confidence.   And I  love that I see them taking comfort in their parents’ touch.

If you’re interested in a family photo shoot, please contact me via Facebook or e-mail to maegandougherty@gmail.com.  Thank you!

I love all of these pictures! love the one walking away too!

This little guy is about the same age as my Jasper.  I love watching toddlers stay close to their parents at first, and then start to explore once they feel comfortable.  Each child I photograph discovers something new to me at Van Vleck, and this one had so much fun with the bird bath.  🙂  I also love how well toddlers can communicate without words.  When he was ready to change his shoes, this cutie went to the bag and pointed to them and let his mom and dad know what he needed.

I noticed how well his parents knew what he could handle on his own and when he needed help.  I think it’s rare for first time parents to be so comfortable holding back and trusting that their child will be careful on steps or rocks, and will reach for them when he needs a hand.  It’s a really special thing.

Please contact me via e-mail (maegandougherty@gmail.com), Facebook, or at (201) 994-5610 if you are interested in birth photography a family photo shoot.  Thank you!

I love the pictures of you guys so sweet…

We’ve been enjoying parts of Bergen County we hadn’t experienced yet in the 14 years we’ve lived here.  A couple afternoons each week, Xander and Daddy ride their bikes, and I walk with Jasper in the stroller.  Sunday we started at a different part of Saddle River Park than we normally go to.  We were out for almost two hours, riding/walking/strolling and stopping every once in a while to explore, take iPhone pictures, and let Jasper run around.  Just off of (and under) Route 4, family fun awaits.  🙂

* Please note that these pictures were taken with my iPhone.

I mentioned on Facebook today that my fall calendar is now open for booking births, mini sessions and lifestyle family photo shoots.  If you are interested in having me photograph your family during the usually busy for me pre-holiday months of September, October, and November, let’s pencil a date in our calendars.  You can reach me via e-mail (maegandougherty@gmail.com), Facebook, or at (201) 994-5610.

love these pictures and love that you are discovering wonderful places in your area of NJ for running, biking and enjoying the outdoors. You’re all in blue it’s true!

These are great! Think you can come, explore and find some of the unknown/undiscovered parts of Sussex County for me? 😉

I’ve always admired and appreciated my dad, and seeing him as a grandpa has brought that admiration and appreciated to a whole ‘nother level.  I love these pictures from our Florida trip two years ago.  They are both so happy.

I think my dad has realized by now that I’m not very good about sending cards or gifts.  What I want most to give him for Father’s Day, and what I’m pretty sure he’ll enjoy the most, is time.  So I’m on Delta.com working on finally booking our summer trip to Montana, so I can tell him about it when I call him today.  When you’re using a companion ticket + miles, and making sure there are seats together for a trip less than two months away, buying airline tickets becomes a big project.  So I took a break to blog.  🙂

Can’t wait to see my dad this summer and watch him kayak, ride bikes, and work together in the garage with my little boys.

I just love those pictures – especially the smile on the g’pa’s face! Precious – I’ve got a copy in my living room and look at it and smile every day!
