I loved seeing the big canvases of pictures from each year on the walls of their home.
He had fallen asleep in the car on the way home from a party. I wondered if he would wake up cranky, like kids sometimes do after a short nap. But he woke up and right away smiled this big happy smile!
I loved photographing this family for a third time, at home doing their thing. Legos, leaves, love and laughter.
This little girls’ mama wanted some special pictures of her daughters for little sister’s first Birthday. Aren’t they adorable together?
I’ll never forget being at the park with my boys and reading the message on the screen of my phone. After two years of waiting, my friend and her husband were able to bring their daughter home, and my friend was asking if I could join her family at the airport to photograph her daughter’s arrival.
I remember that drive to the airport, feeling like the luckiest person in the world because I get to photograph days like this, when a child joins a family. I remember thinking this will be one of the most significant events I will ever photograph. This little girl waited years for her forever home and now was traveling to the other side of the world with her dad whom she had just met. To see her mom, who when they met a year before promised her they would see each other again. And to meet the brothers she knew only from pictures. Through tears I watched her smile after coming off the plane holding on to her daddy. I saw her recognizing and reuniting with her mom. And I felt so blessed and so happy for them as I saw the joy and warmth of the whole family as she and her brothers met for the first time.
Our world is filled with such beautiful people and with so much love.

Last year I had this great idea to photograph and blog about some of the amazing local resources I’ve learned about since becoming a mom. I picked a few and enjoyed photographing them, and I started my “weekly” blog series with this post. Then life happened, the year went by, and the other pictures have yet to make it to my blog. Now I’m thinking better late than never, right? So next up in my “weekly series” is Jaymie Gerard’s prenatal exercise class at Montclair B.A.B.Y. 🙂
I’ve been to Montclair B.A.B.Y. several times for different events. Walking in brings me a feeling of peace and calm and of belonging – every time I go, no matter who else is there. The instructor of this class, Jaymie Gerard, is someone I am so happy to call a good friend. She’s the person I called for guidance on a night when my own life coach wasn’t available, and the one I chose, at 100 pounds overweight and totally out of shape and uncomfortable with my body, to help me finally start exercising. She’s awesome at so many things.
This class takes place Saturday mornings at 9am and you can register here. Jaymie is also available for private prenatal and postpartum personal training and for corporate workshops about supporting pregnant employees and new moms!
