As a birth and family photographer in Bergen County, and a mom of two little guys, I’ve learned about lots of awesome resources in Northern NJ for new parents and for those who are expecting a baby. I hear all the time from moms, “I wish I had known about that!” and I feel the same way. Despite all the Googling I did when I was pregnant with Xander and when he was first born, there were so many classes and support groups and services that I didn’t find out about until later.
So in an effort to spread the word about some of these awesome resources, I’ve decided to publish a special blog series. Each week I will feature a local (Bergen County, Essex County and surrounding areas) business that caters to new moms and dads. And I’ll be sharing in the way I enjoy most – through pictures. I’m really excited about this and hope you will enjoy the pictures of the businesses I feature. I would love for you to share posts with friends who are expecting babies or have little ones, and to join me in supporting these local businesses.
This week I am happy to share with you some pictures from a prenatal yoga class, taught by Cecilia Rivera and hosted by Bump to Bump. The day I photographed the class was one of those “just after a snow storm and the roads might be icy” days we had so many of this winter, so there were only three pregnant mamas in the class. They looked beautiful and comfortable, and Cecilia took good care of them. Cecilia is a friend of mine and also has two little boys, and she is one of those people it feels good to be around.

Bump to Bump is a maternity and nursing consignment shop in Wyckoff, owned and run by a local mom. This was my first time there and I was so impressed. It’s a beautiful store full of great buys and fun treasures. They have clothes and books and slings and breast pump parts and gift items. If you are pregnant or are looking for nursing tops or other nursing accessories or baby gear, this is a definite must-check-out place for you.
