Jasper starts preschool this fall! I’m sad he’s growing so fast, and I’m extremely grateful to have spent so much of his first three years with him. When I left my city job almost three years ago, my intention was to be more full-time photographer than full-time mom. That’s not the way it’s worked out, and while that hasn’t been ideal for our family financial situation, it’s been wonderful for my family and for me. I’ve had time to do so many things I didn’t even know I wanted or needed to do. And I’m looking toward September now as the time when I will really grow my business in the way I had intended to do three years ago. I will have more time for it. Time for development and marketing. Time for making my website what I want it to be, to really show my prospective clients what is special about a photo shoot with me. And more time for what I love most about my work: spending time capturing the essence of families, and providing them with beautiful art to treasure forever, art that allows them to see even more of the beauty in their lives.
One item on my list for September and beyond is to have more group mommy and me photo shoots. I did one group event last year. I love connecting people and building community, so it was fun to get a few moms and little ones together, to be able to offer a super budget-friendly option for mamas to get a few pictures.
